Reno Stead Airport is about 20 minutes north of Reno and home to the Reno Air Races. Billed as ‘the world’s fastest motor sport’ the airfield has been used since 1966 when the Stead AFB closed and the airport went to public use. The original years – 1964 /1965 Air Races were held at a dirt strip about 20 miles east of the airport.
