A Splash of Color and Light at the Great Reno Balloon Race 2025
Saturday morning I spent the wee early hours shooting pictures at the Great Reno Balloon Race and capturing some of my favorite pictures this year.
I had not anticipated going this year, but being wide awake at 3am on Saturday morning suggested I venture out and make the most of the opportunity. No kids in tow, just myself loose on the field- to shoot pictures and capture colors and light. I did not bring a tripod this year, I did not want the extra weight while I breezed across the field, so I shot everything handheld. The other difference this year was the traffic backup started an hour earlier than previous years. At 3:50am the cars were waiting to enter Rancho San Rafael Park, nearly reaching Keystone Ave already. I elected for street parking and walked the rest of the way to get there faster than the backup.
